Update to online mooring closures on the British Waterways network 21-03-2012
This is a bi annual update to the online mooring closures on the British Waterways network through the commitments to an online mooring reduction policy. It reflects that for every 10 berths introduced in new marinas that 1 online mooring will be reduced within a 30 miles radius.

The reductions are shown in a map format, which can be downloaded in PDF format by clicking here. The size of each circle represents the number of moorings closed at each location (refer to the legend on the map for more information).

The data now includes two recently opened marinas where closures are required these are currently being assessed: www.britishwaterways.co.uk/media/documents/Online-Mooring-Reduction-Review-July-2011.pdf

  • Caen Hill Marina (250 berth marina), Kennet and Avon Canal
  • Droitwich Spa Marina (238 berth marina), Droitwich Canal
British Waterways explain that they are continuing to review and, where appropriate, redistribute some berth reductions, re-instating some berths and closing an equal number elsewhere within the required area in order to protect mooring site profitability this will continue into the future.
