Be part of the very first Waterways Awards 22-04-2014
Are you involved in a waterways business or organisation that deserves recognition?

Chandleries and Marinas are just two of the categories that Waterways World are seeking applications from for the inaugural Waterways Awards. The awards will highlight those companies and organisations that have shown a dedicated commitment to their craft or community project and achieved excellent standards of workmanship and service.

There are 11 award categories in total, ranging across the UK inland boating industry and waterways community. The Awards are open to all organisations operating on non-tidal, inland waterways within England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Companies and organisations of any size can enter. Organisations are asked to submit their own entries but third-party nominations of suitable organisations are also encouraged.

The awards will be judged by a panel of independent experts including Waterways World Editor Bobby Cowling and Technical Editor Mark Langley. The other panel members are IWA Chairman Les Etheridge, BMF Senior Director Sarah Dhanda and David Fuller, an independent marine surveyor. Waterways World readers will also have their say on the winners as a public vote will contribute towards the judging panelís decision.

Peter Johns, Publisher of Waterways World who is organising the awards in conjunction with Canal and River Trust says "The standard of applications has, so far, been very strong but to ensure the nominees reflect those who are operating at the highest level, we are appealing for more applications irrespective of the size of the business or organisation".

The first Awards will be presented at a ceremony and dinner on Friday October 24th at the ICC in Birmingham and, it is planned, on an annual basis at the same time each year. The awards are an excellent opportunity to showcase your organisationís achievements and the Gala Dinner is a chance to celebrate the work of all businesses and community projects across the UK.

To enter, you must complete a nomination form and supply supporting evidence such as customer testimonials, details of key events in the past year or coverage in the press. The deadline for entering has been extended to Friday 13th June. Full details of award categories and nomination forms can be downloaded online at www.waterwaysawards.com or by emailing admin@wwonline.co.uk.
