Despite the windy and showery weather forecast our Fun Day turned out to be just that, “FUN”.
We were lucky enough to have our event officially opened by Benik Afobe, a footballer who plays centre forward for Stoke City, and founder of The Afobe Foundation which strives to create a safe environment for the most vulnerable children of Kinshasa, Congo and aims to branch out to aid underprivileged young people all around the world.
Penny and her team in the QuarterDeck Restaurant & Bar did a fantastic job feeding everyone and organising plenty of activities with handmade craft stalls, a visit from an historic vessel and live music by The Freeloaders. Medway Watersports provided taster sessions on kayaks/ribs for the more adventurous. It was a relaxing and friendly atmosphere and we managed to raise over £250.00 for our charities: RNLI, Cancer Research, Serv Blood Runners and Coast Watch. A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to an enjoyable and successful day which apparently turned in to a gin tasting evening!!
