|First Advanced Marina Management Course launches in Middle East||05-02-2016|
The first Advanced Marina Management (AMM) course to be held in the Middle East will take place 6-10 March 2016 in Dubai. The course is endorsed by the Global Marina Institute (GMI) and follows a very successful Intermediate Marina Management (IMM) course held in Dubai in 2014 that attracted 15 senior marina staff from eight countries.
Mick Bettesworth, Chairman of GMI said: “Conducting the first AMM course in the Middle East is another reflection of the continuing strength and maturity of the marina industry across the region. GMI is encouraged by the growing demand for GMI endorsed management courses leading to globally recognised certification. Investment in staff training and ongoing continuing professional development is essential for our industry as it competes in an increasingly competitive environment for discretionary expenditure.”
During the five day course participants will receive invaluable education and networking opportunities following the pathway to becoming a Certified Marina Manager or Certified Marina Professional. The AMM courses cover core competencies required for senior marina management including customer relations, organisation and environmental management, strategic planning and capital budgeting; design, construction and re-development. The course also includes marina site inspections and a group project.
Ali Al Fardan, Marina Manager at Amwaj Marina in Bahrain is one of those enrolled for the AMM course. Ali completed the IMM course in Dubai in 2014 and he said at the time: “I have many ideas from the (IMM) course to take back to the marina that I can apply to improve my marina’s performance. I am eager to participate in the next Advanced Marina Managers Course to enhance my knowledge.”
Enrolments are still open for the course and further information can be obtained via the Global Marina Institute website.
