The Yacht Harbour Association supported by MARINA PROJECTS OFFICIALLY LAUNCH THE REVISED TYHA CODE OF PRACTICE
19th October 2026
The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) & Marina Projects are proud to announce the official launch of volumes 1 & 2 of the revised TYHA Code of Practice (8th Edition), announced by The Yacht Harbour Association at the ICOMIA World Marina Conference in Venice. Developed in partnership, the comprehensive update represents the most significant revision of the Code and establishes a modern framework for marina planning, design, development and operations across the global marina industry.
As one of the world's leading specialist marina consultancy firms, Marina Projects played a central role in the review, development and restructuring of the Code, drawing on more than three decades of international experience in marina planning, design, operations and asset management.
The revised Code has been developed following extensive consultation with marina operators and industry stakeholders from the UK and around the world. It incorporates best practice guidance from international standards, regulatory frameworks and operational experience, ensuring the resource remains relevant to the evolving needs of the leisure marine sector.
The new edition has been structured into four dedicated volumes covering:
Marina Planning & Design (volume 1)
Marina Operations (volume 2)
Boatyard Planning, Design & Operations (volume 3)
Superyacht Marina Planning, Design & Operations (volume 4)
This format provides a more focused and practical resource for marina owners, operators, developers and investors worldwide.
NB. Volumes 1 & 2 completely replace the TYHA Code of Practice 7th Edition.
MARINA PROJECTS' CONTRIBUTION
Marina Projects worked closely with TYHA throughout the revision process, providing technical leadership, industry insight and practical operational expertise. The company's team reviewed existing guidance, helped benchmark international best practice, contributed new content across multiple disciplines and supported the development of a structure that reflects the increasing complexity of modern marina operations.
The revision also addresses emerging industry priorities, including sustainability, environmental management, customer experience, operational resilience and the growing demands of superyacht and mixed-use waterfront developments.
Jon White General Manager of TYHA commented; “The TYHA Code of Practice has been a cornerstone of marina planning, design and operation since its introduction in 1977. Over the decades, its international reach has grown significantly, supported by successive revisions ranging from targeted updates to more substantial developments, reflecting the evolving needs of the ever-expanding global marina industry.
Following a major rewrite, informed by contributions from a broader cross-section of the international marina industry than ever before, TYHA is delighted to announce the publication of the 8th Edition of its Code of Practice.
To achieve this significant milestone, TYHA has worked in partnership with the world-renowned consultancy Marina Projects, whose extensive industry expertise has further strengthened the publication and its international relevance. The new edition provides greater detail in defining minimum requirements and identifying further considerations, presented in a more accessible, visually engaging format.
